Editorial Policy and Submission Guidelines

The Brazilian Journal of International Policy (RBPI) is a biannual publication founded in 1958 in Rio de Janeiro by the Instituto Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais (Brazilian Institute of International Relations, IBRI), a non-profit non-governmental organization with cultural purposes. RBPI is the oldest publication in circulation in Brazil specializing in themes from the international agenda and foreign affairs and one of the most traditional in Latin America. Since its inception, it has assumed a prominent role in the political and academic culture of the country.

Transferred to Brasilia in 1993, RBPI acts as a privileged instrument for the general study of International Relations and in particular of themes relative to the international context of Brazil.

RBPI publishes unedited contributions in Portuguese, English or Spanish in the form of scientific articles with themes on International Relations that encompass International and Compared Policy, International Law, History of International Relations and Foreign Affairs and International Economic Policy. All of the contributions are subjected to a scientific review.

Scope and editorial policy

Revista Brasileira de Política Internacional - RBPI publishes original contributions in the form of scientific articles, notes, and reviews of books.

Edited by IBRI, the RBPI does not express the ideas of governmental entities nor does it affiliate with partisan organizations and movements. The opinions expressed in the publication are exclusively the responsibility of its authors and does not express the opinion nor receive the endorsement of the IBRI.

The Journal publishes articles with themes that lie in the vast area of International Relations that encompass International and Compared Policy, International Law, History of International Relations and Foreign Affairs and International Economy.

All of the articles will be submitted to peer review of at least two outside scholars and in most cases, at least one of the reviewers is a member of the Editorial Board of the RBPI, that can recommend the publication, adjust the publication to conform to the appropriate format, structure or content or even deny it. In this process, the anonymity of the authors and the editors is guaranteed. The publication of contributions will be always be supported by the recommendations from the Editorial Council and the Consultative Council.

The publication of any contribution is conditional to a positive work of external works and the Editorial Council and the Consultative Council of RBPI. On average, the editorial analysis process can take up to 150 days.
