Mónica López Viso, co-author of Multi-level Governance and Social Cohesion in the European Union
Born in Ourense (Spain), Mónica López Viso is a lecturer at the University of Vigo, Spain. She has a degree in Political Science and Sociology (1991), and has a Ph.D. in Political Science and Sociology (specialization in International Relations) (2002) from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
She has been a lecturer at the University of Vigo since 1995, and is currently a Lecturer in Doctoral Research Programs in the fields of Political Science and Administration. In addition, since 1993 she has been a Lecturer and Tutor at the Department of Political Science and Administration at the Spanish National Distance Education University (UNED).
She holds the Jean Monnet Module “The European Union and the Social Policy” (2005-2008), and is currently a member of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence teaching staff at the University of Vigo.
She has lectured in Graduate Programs at the University of Vigo: Graduate Gender Studies; Master of European Policies and Regional Cooperation at the University of Vigo (Spain), and the University of Minho (Portugal); and the Master in Management and International Business from the Universidad Popular Autonoma of Puebla (Mexico). Currently she is a lecturer on the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Vigo, and coordinator of the Online Master in Public Management and Institutional Leadership at the same University.
She was a visiting lecturer at the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion, European Commission, Brussels, Belgium (July, 1999 and April-May, 2001); the National University of Rosario, Argentina (July-September 1998); National University of Cordoba, Argentina (July-August 1999); National University of La Rioja, Argentina (August, 1999); Mother and Teacher Pontifical Catholic University, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (August-September, 2000); the Autonomous University of Yucatan, Mérida, Mexico (August-September, 2001), and the University of Puebla, Mexico (July, 2004).
She combines her teaching activities with her research work on social policy, EU Community social policy and cyberpolitics. The following are among the most relevant of her publications:

She has participated in numerous funded research projects. In addition to submitting communications to multiple international conferences in Spain, Costa Rica, Chile, Mexico, Argentina and Dominican Republic, she has been invited to lecture at numerous institutions such as, National University of Rosario, National University of Cordoba and National University of La Rioja in Argentina, Mother and Teacher Pontifical Catholic University (Dominican Republic), Autonomous University of Yucatan and University of Puebla, among others.
The paper now published in No. 2/2014 of RBPI is entitled “Multi-level Governance and Social Cohesion in the European Union. The assessment of local agents: a case study inside Galicia”. Based on the analysis of the European Social Fund implementation in the local structures, the paper explored the shortcomings and achievements of implementation in the context of joint management and governance.
